43rd edition of The Nutcracker, a Christmas classic with a special guest appearance by Ana Botafogo

The Concert

Concert

For the 2026 season, in addition to the permanent cast of Cisne Negro Cia de Dança and dancers hired especially for the production, the special guest appearance of Ana Botafogo is confirmed. The principal dancer of the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro and one of the most revered artists of Brazilian dance, she performs Clara's mother from December 17 through the end of the season. Also expected are appearances by guest Brazilian soloists Márcia Jaqueline and Cícero Gomes (Principal Dancers of the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro).

The story, divided into two acts, tells the fantasy of Clara, a young girl who receives many gifts on Christmas Eve but is especially enchanted by a nutcracker doll given to her by her uncle. As she falls asleep, Clara dreams of a magical universe where toys come to life, dance, and wage battles, taking her to the enchanting Kingdom of Snow and the dazzling Kingdom of Sweets. There, Clara and her prince are honored with traditional dances from various countries, culminating in a grand grand pas-de-deux by the Sugar Plum Fairy. With new sets and scenic elements created to expand the immersion and enchantment of the narrative, the production, directed by Dany Bittencourt, preserves the essence that makes The Nutcracker a timeless classic. There will be 25 performances, reinforcing the show's tradition by inviting audiences to experience one of the symbols of Christmas.
